CARHENGE

March 11, 2015

Back in January, I was making my way back to Nashville from New York City when I was approached by legendary producer and songwriter, Desmond Child. He explained that he had been working with an up-and-coming rock band called De La Torre and asked if I'd be interested in stopping by his studio to hear a few tracks. My interest was piqued, to say the least, as it's not every day someone of Desmond's caliber makes such a request in the baggage terminal at BNA. Needless to say, I obliged. The songs sounded great - Mr. Child had penned and produced them. Desmond expressed an interest in working together on the project and I, of course, reciprocated. Fast forward a few short weeks and we were on a private jet to Alliance, NE to film the music video for the band's debut single, "Ruins."  That's right, Alliance, NE - home to hordes of zucchini, or so I'm told by the locals, and a lesser-known Stonehenge tribute, Carhenge. I would have never believed such a place existed, yet there it was: a to-scale Stonehenge replica crafted entirely of abandoned, vintage cars - each had been meticulously spray painted the same shade of flat gray. As for the surrounding areas, they were seemingly uninhabited as far as the eye can see. It was a breathtaking place to film a music video. I can think of worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thanks, Desmond!
